There are three main bike types for touring in Iceland. Gravel bikes are fast and stable, built for long distances on gravel roads and mixed terrain, ideal for remote routes and long days in the saddle. Mountain bikes are durable and confidence-inspiring, well suited for rough tracks, lava fields, and uneven surfaces where control and comfort matter most.
